We have some wonderful things planned for you in 2023, including, we hope, the installation of a brand new Winter Display Garden.

The Winter Display Garden will be located on the west side of the Jewett Interpretive Center welcoming guests with a variety of colors and textures year round.

Your year-end financial gift will help make the installation of the new Winter Display Garden possible in the spring of 2023.

What is a winter garden?  A winter garden is a landscape design that incorporates evergreen and deciduous trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers, and grasses that provide plenty of winter interest.  Evergreens offer a base background of greens and yellows.  Deciduous trees and shrubs provide form and colorful bark.  Spent perennials and shrub flowers add unique shapes, especially when covered with frost and snow.  Winter grasses provide flow as they move with the wind and ground covers will add multi-season color throughout the garden.

The new Winter Display Garden will be a place where visitors can stroll and relax in a comforting environment and take back ideas to create something new and special in their own home landscape.

For over 50 years the Yakima Area Arboretum has been enriching our community through its diverse collection of trees, display gardens, educational programs and events.  It has been our greatest pleasure to be here for you as you are for us.

So please consider making a year-end contribution towards our Winter Display Garden project by donating today, any amount will help, online or by mail.

From our nature family to yours, we wish you a happy holiday season and the best of health in the coming year.

With warmest regards,

Colleen Adams-Schuppe, Executive Director
