Featured Gardens:
Canyon Blooms
Kara Lolley, Founder
7714 Cowiche Canyon Rd
Yakima, WA 98908
Canyon Blooms Petals for Patients utilizes every inch of their small flower farm efficiently, starting seeds indoors and planting successively for continuous blooms. Perennial beds provide filler and focal blooms, while goats and pigs aid composting by consuming leftovers and fertilizing beds. Volunteers maintain 4-foot-wide annual beds using pulse drip irrigation, which waters frequently for short periods to reduce runoff and increase efficiency. This method supports the production of 90 to 120 bouquets daily during peak season!
Tony’s Dream
Rosemary Saul
6203 Occidental Rd
Yakima, WA 98903
Rosemary and Tony transformed their barren, clay-filled lot into a lush garden retreat. Their garden features a green lawn framed by perennials, delicate blooms along the sidewalk, fruiting filberts and berries, and a prized “Rising Sun” redbud tree. Colorful flower containers add whimsy, while blueberries line the fence. Even after his passing in 2023, Tony’s dream of their garden being part of the Arboretum’s Garden Tour was fulfilled, a testament to his enduring passion for gardening.
