Call 509-248-7337 for rate information Weddings & Other Garden Events The botanical garden has been a favorite setting for outdoor events since the development of the Japanese Garden in the 1970s. The Japanese Garden features an ornamental pond and waterfall, an Oriental Teahouse, and exotic plants. Its welcoming gateway provides a romantic setting for your wedding or special event.
The Arboretum offers a special
all-day wedding package on Saturdays, June through September. This includes use
of the Japanese Garden and the Jewett Center. Contact the Arboretum for rates
and details.
Note: decorations not included with rental Rice: Throwing rice is a Japanese custom wishing good luck. Rice is permitted on the grass, but not on cement walkways. The Audubon Society assures us that rice does not harm birds. Birdseed may not be used because it sprouts weeds in the garden. Building Access: Participants of outdoor events may use the restrooms in the Jewett Center. The building's atrium may be used as a backup for your wedding ceremony in case of inclement weather. Restrictions: Outdoor music volume is limited. Last person must leave the grounds by midnight. The Arboretum reserves the right to limit group size. Amenities Included With Your Rental Meetings: Audio visual equipment includes a full length electronic lectern with microphone; Kodak carousel slide projector; 8 wall mounted screens in each room; 26" color television; VCR; flip chart easel; dry erase board with markers; six wooden easels; and overhead projector. Garden: Electricity; up to 100 chairs supplied; bell tower music selections that broadcast to the garden. Tables: Will be set up and taken down to your specifications. They include 7 round tables (5 feet across), 12 rectangular (70X52), 8 rectangular (72X30), and 140 chairs. Parking capacity: 80 vehicles in authorized areas only. Cars may use sidewalk for unloading. A golf cart is available for transporting people and/or equipment. Viewing: Planners may view the Center during business hours when the building is not in use. Please call 248-7337 to schedule a tour. Our Kitchen is available for rental for an extra fee of $50. It is fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Complete kitchen rental ($100) includes plates, silverware, glassware, and coffee cups (service for 125 people); punchbowl and cups. Cleanup includes stacking and rinsing dishes, then leaving them for our staff to sanitize. Additional Information The Arboretum is a living museum & botanical garden. The plants are exhibits and must be protected. Please stay on grass or gravel. Food should be served and eaten indoors. Hours of operation: The building and grounds are open for events Monday-Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to Midnight. When there is no scheduled event we are open Tuesday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Security: We will have a person in the building during your event to answer questions and provide any necessary assistance. Alcohol service (wine, champagne, beer in bottles only) requires a banquet permit. These are available at your local state liquor store. Hard liquor and kegs are not permitted. An additional deposit will be required. Music may be played outdoors only by prior approval. State law prohibits smoking in the Jewett Center. Candles are permitted when both flame and wax are contained inside a glass vessel. Daytime restrictions: When the center is open for business, music volume and use of the atrium hallway are limited. Events scheduled after business hours are granted more freedom than daytime events. To safeguard interpretive exhibits, dancing and food service are not permitted in the Atrium. Yakima Speedway: At times, noise from the Speedway may be heard at the Arboretum. If necessary, we will help you plan your event to avoid such noise. |
