Yakima Area Arboretum

Annual Events  |  2009 Calendar  |  Club Meetings

There is always something new to do and view at the Yakima Area Arboretum.   Activities include:

  • Pullin' of the Greens – Volunteers spend a Saturday in March sprucing up the Arboretum for the upcoming growing season, followed by a tasty hot lunch in the Jewett Center.

  • Arbor Day Tree Planting – Join us as we celebrate our state Arbor Day on the second Wednesday in the month of April by planting trees.

  • Arbor Festival – On the Saturday following our state Arbor Day we have a major celebration on the grounds of the Arboretum.  This free family event celebrates not only trees, but spring, conservation and natural science.

  • Spring Plant Sale – Arboretum volunteers and staff scour the northwest collecting plant specimens in order to offer the widest selection of popular and unusual plants at unbeatable prices.

  • Memorial Day - Visitors check trees planted as memorials to loved ones. Many tie ribbons and bows on their trees in respect.

  • Garden Tour - Tour five beautiful local gardens. This is the perfect opportunity to see new perennials, observe companion planting, and see mature plants before you select a specimen for your own garden.

Autumn Bounty 2003

  • Autumn Bounty – Everyone is encouraged to join us for an evening of fine wine, dining, dancing, and a live and silent auction, all in support of one of the most beautiful places in Yakima, the Arboretum.

  • Luminaria - This celebration of the holiday season is free and open to the public. Music from the bell tower and thousands of glowing luminary bags lead visitors from our giant, lighted tree through the winter landscape and back to the Jewett Center for warmth, music, food, crafts, and entertainment.
