Yakima Area Arboretum

Annual Events  |  2007 Calendar  |  Club Meetings

There is always something happening throughout the year at the Arboretum. Activities include:

  • Mother's Day is one of the most popular days to visit the Arboretum, when over 5000 petunias are planted. A donation of $15 buys a dozen petunias, which are planted around the Jewett Pond by volunteers to honor a mother or special woman in the lives of the donors. See the beautiful results on our photo page.

  • Memorial Day - Visitors check trees planted as memorials to loved ones. Many tie ribbons and bows on their trees in respect.

  • Garden Tour - Tour five beautiful local gardens. This is the perfect opportunity to see new perennials, observe companion planting, and see mature plants before you select a specimen for your own garden.

  • Autumn Bounty 2003
  • Autumn Bounty - Celebrate harvest at this gala evening of wine tasting, dinner, and dancing.

  • Luminaria - This celebration of the holiday season is free and open to the public. Music from the bell tower and thousands of glowing luminaria bags lead visitors from our giant, lighted tree through the winter landscape and back to the Jewett Center for warmth, music, food, and entertainment.
